Exercise 2 : Aperture & Shutter Speed

Exercise 2 : Aperture & Shutter Speed

Exercise 2a.1

Prove that aperture controls the amount of lights that the camera capture.

f 5.6, ISO 200 , 1/200

f 8, ISO 200, 1/200

f 11, ISO 200, 1/200

From these photos, I understand and prove that aperture controls the light we capture and effect the exposure.

f 5.6, ISO 200, 1/200

f 8, ISO 200, 1/200

f 11, ISO 200, 1/200

I can clearly see the differences through these photos as the aperture controls the light we capture and effect the exposure.

Exercise 2a.2

Aperture controls depth of field. In term of how depth of field is affected by aperture, the wider the aperture setting (f/4.2), the shallower the depth of field. The narrower the aperture size (f/29), the deeper the depth of field.

Notice how the depth of field increases every time the aperture size is decreased.

f 4.2  , 1/100,  ISO 200

f 8  , 1/30, ISO 200

f 13  , 1/14, ISO 200

f 29  , 1/4, ISO 200

Conclusion, Aperture controls the light we capture and controls the depth of field which affecting the exposure of the photo.

Exercise 2b, 2c

Exercise 2b.1

In this exercise, we prove about shutter speed. Shutter speed is the amount of the time that the shutter is open. Shutter speed able to freeze fast moving object and capture the movement. Shutter speed also effects exposure.

f 3.5, ISO 800, 1/160

f 8, ISO 800, 1/40

f 22, ISO 800, 0.77”

Slow and fast shutter speed.

Exercise 2b.2

f 22, ISO 100 ,8”

f 22, ISO 100 ,8”

f 22, ISO 100 ,8”

f 22, ISO 100 ,8”

Light Painting

f 7.5, ISO 800, 15”

f 7.5, ISO 800, 15”

f 7.5, ISO 800, 15”

f 7.5, ISO 800, 15”

Exercise 2c.1

ISO controls the sensitivity of the image sensor and effects the exposure of the image.

f 5.6, ISO 3200, 0.3”

f 3.8, ISO 100, 1/4”

Exercise 2b.2

ISO effects the quality of the image

f 5.6, ISO 100, 1/13

f 8, ISO Hi 1, 1/13
